The purpose of Beroean Pickets – JW.org Reviewer is to provide a place for honest-hearted Jehovah’s Witnesses to gather to examine both the published and broadcast teachings of the Organization in the light of Bible Truth.
The NWT Bible says this:
“Make sure of all things; hold fast to what is fine.” (1Th 5:20-21)
“Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired expression, but test the inspired expressions to see whether they originate with God, because many false prophets have gone forth into the world.” (1Jo 4:1)
We do not treat these sayings as simply good advice. These are commandments. Our Lord is telling us to do this and we obey. We do not hide behind the fallacious excuse that the Governing Body has been appointed by God, and so we must obey it as if Jehovah himself were speaking. Such a belief, while preached from our publications and the convention platform, is not found in the Word of God.
Nevertheless, our purpose is not to find fault, but to reveal truth. If by revealing truth, we also reveal falsehood, then we are happy because in so doing we imitate our Lord who did not shrink back from exposing the false and harmful teachings of the religious leaders of this day—religious leaders, it should be noted, who could also lay claim to divine appointment.
Why the new site?
We have found that when Witnesses begin to awaken and question their beliefs, they often start by examining teachings in current Watchtower articles. They might google the title of the current study article, which will likely bring them here. Nevertheless, simply providing a Scriptural critique of WT teachings is only a first step. True Christian freedom comes from understanding all the truth, and that is the result of God’s spirit operating in the heart of the disciple. (John 16:13)
By separating out articles that only pertain to a Scriptural examination of the accuracy of Watchtower doctrine, we hope to provide a jumping off point. Our other sites will provide for deeper research and understanding.
