Treasures from God’s Word and Digging for Spiritual Gems – “Whoever wants to be great among you must be your minister” (Matthew 20-21)

Matthew 21:23-27(alternative highlight)

This passage highlights how Jesus used questions to ‘turn the tables’ on his opposers. Jesus was asked “By what authority do you do these things? And who gave you this authority?” So Jesus asked them a difficult question in return. “I, also, will ask YOU one thing. If YOU tell it to me, I also will tell YOU by what authority I do these things:  25 The baptism by John, from what source was it? From heaven or from men?”

Today we could be asked “Do you accept the teachings and authority of the governing body?” Instead of answering "Yes", "No" or "Maybe", why not use the suggestion of a reader of this site?  Why not say “I will give you my answer, if you answer me this question: ‘From whom is the teachings of the overlapping generations and that Armageddon would come in 1975? Are they from God or men?”

Of course God cannot lie, so they will have to say men. Then ask them to read out loud Psalm 146:3 and Micah 7:5.

Of course, if they refuse to reply as did the chief priests and older men, then you can say ‘If you are not prepared to answer me, why should I answer you?’

If you wish to say something, you can then say “Here is Jehovah’s answer to your question.  That is my answer too (Acts 5:29).”

Jesus, The Way (jy Chapter 11)John the Baptist prepares the Way.

Another refreshingly accurate summary.

I believe Meleti (Eric) confirmed that citing Acts 5:29 in a judicial hearing has gotten more than one person disfellowshiped. WT doesn't want you to obey God. They want you to obey THEM first, then obey God if their man-made rules don't conflict. In doing so, they have elevated themselves above God. Matt. 15:9 was written for such persons: "It is in vain that they keep worshiping me, because they teach commands of men as doctrines." They make the same fatal mistake as did the crowd described in Acts 12:22: "In turn the assembled people began shouting: “A god’s voice, and not a man’s!"
