Treasures from God’s Word and Digging for Spiritual Gems – “The Passover and the Memorial – Similarities and Differences” (Matthew 26)

Bible Study

Note the dumbed down endnote in the simplified ‘Bible Teach’ book known as ‘Teach us’. Just as Bible has been removed from the short name, so has the Bible from the explanation. There is no attempt to support the teaching of separate classes scripturally. All it says is “Those who will rule with Jesus in heaven eat the bread and drink the wine. Those who have the hope of living forever on earth respectfully attend the Memorial but do not eat the bread or drink the wine.”  No attempt is made to provide scriptural support for this teaching. The conductors of Bible studies will have fun with getting that past any new Bible studies.

Otherwise, little to comment on this week.

Local needs again. Become Jehovah’s friend. They never stop with this

It remains most peculiar: if we are supposedly all brother, than we must have one father. If I am just a "friend" of our creator, then no-one is my brother. If anyone speaks to an elder, please bring this forward.

Happy to try, Mentov. Indoctrinate young ones with this idea. It will take them a long time before they work out it is not true. Abraham, of course, was not referred to as a friend until Jehovah chose to do so, and that was a lot of years later , in the book of Isaiah.

Can someone please explain what they mean by this:
“Although the Passover did not foreshadow the Memorial, certain features of the Passover have meaning for us.”

I'd really like *WT* to explain this, too. Seems to me that for years, they said the Memorial was only once a year (not like bad old Christendom that does it every week or every day) because "our" Memorial was patterned after the Passover, which of course was once a year.

If the Passover did not foreshadow the Memorial, then why do the scriptures say, Christ our Passover has been sacrificed? And why not observe the Memorial "often" as the NT describes?

I don't see how they can have it both ways. Unless I have totally confused this. Maybe someone smarter than me can explain it.

I was wondering which "us" they are talking about the earthly or the heavenly crowd? Did they specify who they were directing that statement to?
