Who Are in Jehovah's Congregation?

In the Friday, December 11, 2020 day text (Examining the Scriptures Daily), the message was that we must never stop praying to Jehovah and that “we need to listen to what Jehovah tells us through his Word and organization.”

The text was from Habakkuk 2:1, which reads,

“At my guardpost I will keep standing, And I will station myself on the rampart. I will keep watch to see what he will speak by means of me And what I will reply when I am reproved.” (Habakkuk 2:1)

It also referenced Romans 12:12.

“Rejoice in the hope. Endure under tribulation. Persevere in prayer.” (Romans 12:12)

On reading “Jehovah’s organization’, I was surprised by the scriptures used, since making a statement like that would require some scriptural back up or support, one would imagine.

At one time, I believed that Jehovah had appointed JW.org to be in charge of His faithful and the reference to ‘Jehovah’s organization’ was accepted by me.   However, I now wanted this statement confirmed as fact by God’s Word.  So, I started searching for proof.

Last Sunday, December 13, 2020, at our Beroean Pickets Zoom meeting, we were discussing Hebrews 7 and those discussions led us to other scriptures.  From that I came to understand that my search was over and I had my answer.

The answer was right in front of me.  Jehovah appointed Jesus as High Priest to intervene on our behalf and therefore no human organization is needed.

"The point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, and who ministers in the sanctuary and true tabernacle set up by the Lord, not by man." (Hebrews 8:1, 2 BSB)

CONCLUSION

Hebrews 7:22-27 states that Jesus ‘….has become the guarantee of a better covenant.” Unlike other priests who died, He has a permanent priesthood and is able to save those completely who draw near to God through Him.  What better access could there be?

Are therefore not all Christians Jehovah’s congregation through our Lord, Jesus?

I'm sorry that happened to you. No one should be embarrassed like that, especially in public. As an interested person, they should have been more concerned about stumbling you than correcting you. Instead, the brother, who was no doubt an elder, hung a millstone around his neck.

A similar thing happened to me while living in New York City. I took an interested person to a Sunday Watchtower study and the person decided to raise his hand and make a comment to my surprise. I sensed my own uneasiness because I knew whatever he was about to say more than likely would not fall in line with "theocratic thinking" as in the scripted way we all had to express ourselves. So I sensed myself slightly tense and borderline cringe awaiting the fallout. lol

To my relief, the stunned brother on the platform who looked like a deer in headlights for a split-second, as if he was just thrown off balance, rather hesitantly but politely said, "yes", and thanked the person for their comment. The comment was something along the line of "the need to love oneself before we can love others." I remember the comment gendered some curiosity as to who had said it because several who were sitting in front rows turned their heads to take a peek:-) I was just relieved the comment was as benign as it was as the person I brought with me, although brilliant, was bipolar like Beethoven and I have no doubt would have gone off and made a scene if publically embarrassed.

The same person disrupted the Memorial because someone (another new person) hadn't been offered the emblems. He stood up after the emblems had been offered and loudly said, "Excuse me but someone here hasn't been served." Again dead silence as people turned to stare. There a hush in the room amid a few muffled gasps. The other new person I brought with me, (female) started to giggle uncontrollably over his outburst. I think we both felt like melting into the floor, but the brother in charge handled it well once again and instructed the two serving brothers to offer them to the new person who had been left out. After the memorial was over the new person who had been passed over affectionately thanked the other new person who spoke up and had cared enough to think of him. I couldn't help but think that maybe, just maybe, that act of kindness was enough to make the stranger want to come back. Whereas, if he had been bypassed and ignored maybe he would have never gone back. I could tell that he felt loved.

I agree. Last week’s reading of Hebrews helped solidify that for me too. We don’t need human priests. We have our High Priest, our Father and Their Spirit. And it’s amazing to see what clarity we get when we gather together and let the Spirit guide us using only the Bible without rigid, ,predetermined answers in a Watchtower paragraph.

To be able to speak in one's own words seems to me to be a better indicator of one's Faith.

and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them.

    Merci Elpida

    Good points, Elpida.

Yes, Jesus is the central point of salvation for every human being, „for it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell“ (Col 1:19-20). None of the people (Acts 4:12). However, Jehovah initiates the salvation of each person:

    1) Jehovah acts on man through the holy Spirit and draws him to Jesus (John 6: 44,65),
    2) Man then believes in Jesus and through him comes to God and becomes God's son or daughter (John 1:12)

God made Jesus as the doors (John 10:9) through which man, sanctified by the blood of Jesus, again enters his Father (Heb 9:12).

There is nothing we can do without Jesus! Our strength comes from above (Romans 15:18-19). The Christian is grafted into Jesus like a branch into trunk of a tree (John 15:5) - not into GB or other people, but into Jesus only! It is only through Jesus that the life-giving power of Jehovah flows into us (1 John 1:2). It is not a problem to fall away from people; the problem is to fall away from Jesus and then dry up like that broken branch (John 15:2,6; Romans 11:20).

All Christians, without distinction, are only branches. Nowhere is it written that a branch is grafted into another branch, into another Christian. Only the writers of the Bible were inspired by the Holy Spirit to speak to us (1 Cor 7:40; Gal 5:5; 2 Peter 1:21). Does anyone impersonate anyone? Does anyone tell us anything? Let us always be guided by the Bible and pray for God's holy Spirit (Romans 8:14). Because it is not GB who has anointed us, but Jehovah has anointed us with His holy Spirit, by which He helps us to distinguish lies from truth (1 John 2:20-21).

Love to you Elpida and to all. Frankie.
