Simple Truth: 1 Peter 3:15

What if you could start a conversation with just a single Scripture? What if you could help your family and friends to read God's Word more often, and with a new set of eyes? Meet Simple Truth!
For this edition, we've chosen 1 Peter 3:15.

"But set Christ apart as Lord in your hearts and always be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks about the hope you possess." (NET)

Imagine you have the heavenly hope. Wouldn't this Scripture compel you to look for opportunities to defend your hope? To share your hope? Why be ready or prepare yourself for something that you shouldn't be doing?
For example, the Watchtower of January 2016 states the DONT ASK - DONT TELL policy of Jehovah's Witnesses:

"We would not ask them personal  questions about their anointing."

and

"For the most part, they would not even mention this personal experience to others, so as to avoid drawing attention to themselves"

By the same reasoning, let's review our dedication to Jehovah. One could say that it is personal, between you and Jehovah. Would sharing your newfound hope amount to drawing attention to yourself? What if the first-century anointed Christians had not mentioned their hope to others because it was "personal"?
To this I am reminded of Matthew 5:15

"Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house." (NIV)
