Treasures from God’s Word and Digging for Spiritual Gems – “Jesus has the power to resurrect our dead loved ones” (Mark 5-6)

As there is little to comment on this week and the main subject is "Jesus has the power to resurrect our dead loved ones”, it is a good time to reflect on the hope of the resurrection as taught in the Scriptures. To that end we have a mini-series discussing this subject which will be launched soon.

Skillfully use the Tools in Our Teaching Toolbox.

“We especially need to develop skill in using our principal tool, God’s Word. (2 Timothy 2:15)”  So says the first paragraph in this item. It then goes on to say “We also need to make effective use of the other publications and videos in our Teaching Toolbox – with the goal of making disciples.”

Now, while it is good to make use of modern technology, the emphasis should be on using the sharp sword we already have as Hebrews 4:12 says “the word of God is alive and exerts power and is sharper than any two-edged sword and pierces even to the dividing of soul and spirit … and is able to discern thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

If we are truly skillful with the sword of God’s Word then the need for other tools will be limited or non-existent. The early Christians spread the word so well without the aid of other tools that Acts 17:6 records that they were accused of overturning the inhabited earth (the large Roman Empire of that time as a minimum). The toolbox is also very cut down, consisting of the Watchtower and Awake magazines, 3 brochures, 2 books, 8 tracts, 4 videos, a meeting invitation and a contact card. Hardly a well rounded out toolbox to use, if one were necessary.

“As you become skilled at using these publications and videos, you will experience joy in the spiritual building work now taking place.”  However, we can guarantee that greater joy can be had by using the tool provided by Jehovah and Jesus Christ, the Holy Bible which contains all the promises, principles to live by, and good news that we need both personally and to make a disciple of Christ.

The one verse is of note, John 4:23 The true worshippers must worship the father with spirit and truth, for indeed the father is looking for ones like these to worship him. So what does Jehovah think of those who are no longer interested in truth ?
